Born in 2009, Ingenzi Cultural Troop was founded with a singular, crucial vision: to preserve and celebrate the rich artistic traditions of Rwanda within institutions of higher education. Recognizing that the rapid pace of modern student life risked distancing the younger generation from their roots, the troop was established to keep the flame of our ancestral legacy burning bright among university intellectuals.

What started as an academic movement soon outgrew its borders. As the rhythmic thunder of our traditional Ingoma drums and the striking elegance of the Umushayayo dance captured hearts, the troop transformed. Ingenzi evolved from a student collective into an inclusive national cultural hub—an open home for anyone, from any background, eager to learn, practice, and experience true Rwandan heritage.

From the first day of our inception until this very moment, our dedication has never wavered. Day after day, year after year, we continue to train passion into artistry, passing down the sacred drum beats, the fierce warrior movements of Ibyivugo, and the soul of our nation. We stand today as a proud bridge connecting our history to the global future, preserving our past to inspire generations to come.
